Prevent vision loss due to Diabetic Retinopathy By Dr. Ashok Suryawanshi

Sanjeevan Netralaya offers a revolutionary non-invasive treatment that helps restore patients' functional vision. We are the only internationally accredited Ayurvedic Institution.

What is Retinitis Pigmentosa?

Patients experience progressive blindness due to retinal degeneration. Cells, also called rods and cones, within the eye deteriorate gradually, leading to total impairment of vision. Light-sensitive cells are crucial for vision, particularly in illuminating low-light conditions or peripheral vision. Cones are responsible for colour and central vision. When these breakdown patients can experience tunnel vision as the peripheral side starts narrowing. In many cases central vision may also be affected.

Causes of Retinitis Pigmentosa

RP is a genetic disorder that gradually affects the rod and cone cells in the retina, resulting in tunnel vision and ultimately leading to blindness. The speed of vision loss, however, can vary from person to person, depending on the form and condition.

Symptoms of Retinitis Pigmentosa

- Night blindness - Individuals cannot see anything in the dark
- Peripheral vision loss - Vision on the side is lost, or only tunnel vision is left
- Central vision loss - Detailed tasks that require centre vision become difficult
- Loss of colour vision - Patients have trouble identifying colours
